With the weather turning from daily rain to daily sunshine, the Sailing team has taken to the water. Coach Luke Ingalls begins his second year at the helm of the nascent program and is excited to take the Warriors into weekly sailing competitions!
Boys Lacrosse has captured a trio of wins since last Friday with victories over Beaver Country Day (3-2), Providence Country Day (10-5), and Lexington Christian (15-2). The team is coming together and embraced the opportunity to play deep into their bench during the opening of their season. Next up for the Warriors will be a home game against Concord Academy on Wednesday and an away contest at Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall in Waltham, MA.
Baseball captured two wins this week over Brimmer and May (13-2) and Lexington Christian (12-2), which pushed the team to 3-2 on the year and 2-1 in EIL play. On Monday against Brimmer, the team was led by Jake Charlton ’26 and his 3 for 4 effort at the plate, and the arm of Ben Diaz ’25 and his 10 strikeouts from the mound. On Wednesday, the Warriors scattered 7 hits against the visiting Lions, including 3 by Jack Himelfarb ’26, which led to the 3 RBIs. Classmates Xavier Bain ’28 and Theo Carman ’28 combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound. The team returns to action against Beaver Country Day next Wednesday at home.
Girls Lacrosse split a pair of EIL decisions over the last week, defeating Beaver Country Day (19-6) and dropping a game to Dana Hall (19-11). Against the Beavers, the Warriors were led by Anna Pizzarello ’25 (5 goals), Avery Flaherty ’31 (5 goals), Sophia Roberts ’29 (4 goals), and Ella DiBari ’25 (3 goals). Against the Dragons, Violet Abedon-Pollock ’27 (5 goals) and Anna Pizzarello (5 goals, 2 assists) led the way. The team returns to action next Wednesday when they travel to Portsmouth Abbey to take on the Ravens.
Girls Tennis dropped a pair of EIL matches over the last week to Concord Academy and NEPSAC power Winsor School. The team returns to action this afternoon at the farm against Dana Hall.
Softball lost a pair of competitive games over the last week against Lexington Christian (23-14) and Hope High School (16-6). Charlie Woodcome ’26 went 2 for 5 with 3 RBI’s and Julia Murphy ’27 went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s against the Lions. The pair also executed a double stolen base. Against Hope, Murphy and her classmate, Lexi German ’27, threw 50 pitches, each marking their longest pitching outings as new pitchers. The program hosts Barrington’s JV team on Tuesday next week, before Varsity prepares for back-to-back EIL games on Friday and Saturday against Beaver Country Day and Pingree School.
Boys Tennis lost to perennial NEPSAC Class B contender Pomfret 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in a non-league match. Reid Wemple ’26 secured Wheeler’s lone point on the day. The Warriors travel to another NEPSAC Class B opponent on Monday when they head to Mt. St. Charles Academy and then they turn around to host Marianapolis on Wednesday.
Track and Field has the week off from competition, but they’ve kept their training going as they prepare for a home meet next Wednesday. St. Andrew’s School, Providence Country Day, Newton Country Day, Concord Academy, and Marianapolis Prep will all be coming to Wheeler Farm.

Did You Know?
Current Girls Lacrosse Coach Marya (McAndrew) Baldwin ’95 was a three-sport star at Wheeler. During her time as a Warrior student-athlete, Coach Baldwin won multiple championships in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. She was an All-American in lacrosse and an All-State selection in lacrosse and field hockey. After graduation, she went on to play Division 1 field hockey in the Big East Conference at the University of Connecticut.
