Cross Country hosted the EIL Cross Country Championship on Friday at Chase Farms in Lincoln and it was a successful day all around. The boys team walked away champions with Reid Wemple ’26 capping off an undefeated regular season by capturing the individual championship. The girls team also had an incredible outing, with a second-place finish behind NEPSAC power Winsor School. The championship marks Wheeler’s second EIL Championships since joining the league last year (Boys Swim in 2024). The team travels to Canterbury School this weekend for the NEPSTA Division III Championship.
Golf finished in 5th place on Tuesday at the EIL Championships in Wayland, MA. Headlining the trip to Sandy Burr Country Club was Raj Mammen ’28, who shot a 72 to place second individually and won the first flight. Overall, the team had a great experience during their inaugural EIL season.
Girls Soccer memorably celebrated their seniors on Saturday with a dramatic 3-2 win over visiting Kents Hill. Niya Neves ’25 found the back of the net three times, with the last one breaking a 2-2 tie with about 20 minutes to go in the contest. The senior, along with her classmates, Mercy Flomo ’25, Anna Pizzarello ’25, and Rory Hall ’25, enjoyed a wonderful sendoff.
Field Hockey tied Portsmouth Abbey 2-2 on Tuesday night and kept their NEPSAC Tournament hopes alive. At 12-5-1, the Warriors hope to grab one of eight tournament spots, and they will find out whether that’s the case on Sunday afternoon.
Boys Soccer celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday with Seamus Counihan ’25, Nate Flum ’25, Jackson Page ’25, Davi Carneiro ’25, and Gavin Steever ’25 taking the field for their last regular season home game against Marianapolis. The team walked away 2-1 winners against the visitors with goals by Oscar Page ’27 and Counihan. The Warriors head to Portsmouth Abbey on Friday for an EIL playoff game, and should they win, they will await the winner of Pingree School and Concord Academy. The team hopes to hear their name called on Sunday as well with regards to selection to the NEPSAC Class C Tournament. More info to come, so be sure to check our social media accounts!
Volleyball honored their seniors on Monday night at Van Norman Field House before a competitive 3-1 loss to Bancroft School. You can catch some of the highlights in this video. The team closed the season with a 3-2 loss on the road against Marianapolis–a team that swept them a year ago–on Wednesday. As the team finishes their second season after a 50-year hiatus, it appears there are exciting moments on the horizon for the program!
The co-op Football team heads to Smithfield HS on Friday night for the quarterfinals of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division IV playoffs. The 5th-seeded squad faces the Sentinels at 7pm. The victor will await the winner of top-seeded Narragansett vs 8th-seeded North Smithfield.

Boys Soccer looks to return to NEPSAC Tournament play after narrowly missing the tournament in 2023. In the late 80s and early 2010s, the Warriors Boys Soccer teams were regulars in the NEPSAC tournament, often hosting quarterfinal and semi-final games. Wheeler won Class C titles in 1986 and 1987.
