Girls Soccer raced out to a 2-0 halftime lead yesterday against the visiting Rocky Hill Mariners. Niya Neves ’25, Julia Murphy ’27, Rory Hall ’25, and Hattie Chang ’26 all found the back of the net for the Warriors as the team notched their second win of the season. The team returns home on Friday when they host a talented Dana Hall team on Baker Field. Game time is set for 4:30pm.
Boys Soccer split a pair of games over the last week, moving their overall record to 4-2 and a 2-1 mark in EIL play. The Warriors hung tight over the weekend when they hosted perennial New England Class C contender St. Luke’s School (New Canaan, CT) before falling 3-1. They quickly rebounded with a stellar second half effort against Rocky Hill on Wednesday. The Warriors featured a pair of second half goals from Tomas Castano ’27 and a game winner from Luke Short ’26. The team travels north to Landmark School on Friday for an EIL matchup.
Wheeler Cross Country continued their winning ways with an impressive win at Portsmouth Abbey on Wednesday as both the boys and girls teams remain undefeated on the season. At the girls race, the Warriors captured six top 10 finishes: Ashton Carson ’27 1st/20:54, Zoey Frank ’26 2nd/21:22, Evelyn Zhang ’25 4th/21:27, Lia Serre-Tovar ’27 7th/22:58, Maddie Bryan ’28 8th/23:20, and Julia Tang ’28 10th/23:51). The Golf team lost to a dominant Berwick Academy squad 6-0. However, the trip north saw season best scores from Robert O’Hara ’25 and Luke Munro ’27. The Warriors return to action next Tuesday at Agawam Country Club when they host Beaver Country Day at 4pm.
Volleyball dropped a pair of matches over the last week but continues to compete well with close matches in the highly competitive Eastern Independent league. The Warriors lost to Newton Country Day and Portsmouth Abbey -- two teams in the EIL Championship last fall -- and played each set and match closely. The team hosts Mt. St. Charles next week in their lone scheduled match in the short school week.
Field Hockey, much like Volleyball, battled Eastern Independent League heavyweights over the last week and lost to Newton Country Day (1-0) and Winsor (3-0). The team showed remarkable resolve on defense in both matchups and the coaching staff was really impressed with their efforts. The Warriors head back to Godley Field for a Friday Night Lights matchup against East Side rival Lincoln School. The teams will match up for the first since 2019, when they met for the third straight year in the Rhode Island Interscholastic Championship.
