Captains: Ben Thornton ‘20, Ross Cornelissen ‘20, and Taj Lessa ‘21
Returning All-League: Jamey Mayer ‘21, Taj Lessa, and Travis Cobain ‘22
Last Season: 12-2-3, RIIL Division II State Champions
Coach’s Outlook: “New seasons and new expectations. This year we are forgetting all about last year and are taking every day one day at a time. We are returning a young core of midfielders and strikers who are backed up by a veteran defensive line. That young core is looking to replace big shoes with the graduation of Braeden Cannon ‘19, who was one of the state’s top scorers with 27 goals and 9 assists. We are learning and growing closer every day and we are looking to get a chance at the playoffs.” - Oscar Zorrilla (4th year)
Fun Fact: The 2018 championship marked Wheeler Boys Soccer’s 12th major title in school history. The school’s first was in 1985 under the guidance of current Athletic Director, Jon Donahue. The Warriors would move on to three-peat with titles in 1986 and 1987.
